Guided Private Water
All private water fishing trips require a guide for one or two anglers. Our guided trips are a great way to explore the nearly three miles of private waters of the South Platte River that flow through the property. Our expert guides are skilled teachers and will patiently instruct you on everything from the fundamentals of casting to reading the water and determining what is hatching.
Spiney Reservoir
Spinney Mountain Reservoir is renowned for its exceptional Gold Medal trout fishing, setting the standard for world-class angling experiences. Anglers can expect a diverse range of fishing opportunities throughout the open water season, including prized catches such as rainbow trout, Snake River Cutthroat trout, cutbows, brown trout, yellow perch, and Northern Pike. The reservoir is particularly known for its impressive trout sizes, with the average catch ranging between 17 to 20 inches.
Antero Reservoir
Antero Reservoir, a an elevation of approximately 9000 feet, stands as a haven for anglers seeking the thrill of reeling in large trout. Over the years, this body of water has built a reputation for being home to an abundance of Brown and Rainbow trout. Fishing can be done from shore, but your best luck will be found by fishing from a craft. Float tubes are popular, as well as hand-propelled and motorized boats.
Public Access Water
Explore the numerous miles of public rivers and reservoirs easily accessible by a short walk or drive from our location. There are ample opportunities for different fishing approaches such as walk/wading or using a boat. We'll provide insight into the fishing experience on each of these waters; such as the various approaches, seasonal hatches, and the diverse trout species that can be found.
The Dream Stream
The Dream Stream, a renowned section of the South Platte River, meanders gracefully between the Spiney Mountain and Eleven Mile Reservoirs. This picturesque part of the river offers avid anglers an opportunity to indulge in a truly exceptional fishing expedition. Famed for its abundance of trophy-sized rainbows, browns and cutthroat, the pristine waters and awe-inspiring natural beauty will leave a lasting impression.
Eleven Mile Reservoir
Eleven Mile Reservoir is renowned for its diverse fish population, including rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, cutbows, brown trout, northern pike, yellow perch, kokanee salmon, and carp. The reservoir typically opens to boating in late April and closes around the 1st of November. Anglers can expect to catch an average trout size of around 17 inches, with a robust population of 18-24 inch fish and even larger specimens present in these waters.
The Fly Shop
Hartsel Ranch provides guests with convenient access to an onsite Fly Shop, offering a wide selection of equipment for river outings. The Fly Shop is stocked with a variety of high-quality Simms and Patagonia waders, as well as a top of the line rods, reels, and flies. Our experienced guides are available to assist you in selecting the appropriate gear and ensuring that you are properly equipped for your time on the river.
